Short form content is real big right now, as you know, with companies such as Tik Tok, Instagram, YouTube, Instagram, with their reels, YouTube, of course with the shorts. And if you've been on Facebook, you see Facebook reels. Also with Snapchat, Pinterest, as well. Pinterest has something called Idea pins, where they're allowing, they're allowing you to upload short form video content with all that short form content is winning right now. And it's winning because of a few things I'm going to discuss.

First thing I'm going to discuss is our attention spans are short. And as human attention spans are very short, you can look at, you can look at so many, so many, not just numbers, but just there's so much data out there, that tells us that tells us within the first you know, two to three seconds that you know as definitely as a creator that that's when you want to hook your audience, your audience. So you want to make sure that you do that. But our attention span is short. And that's why short form content. That's one reason why short form content is winning. At some point, all of these companies, social media companies, they figured out that people Yeah, we watch long form content, you know, depending on what it is that quick 15 1015 Anything under 60 seconds, that catches attention, it catches a lot of it gets a lot of attention. And that's why a lot of these companies are on board. And I'm not talking about tick tock and every go on I'm talking about Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, you know, with their shorts, Snapchat, you know, Snapchat, they've always been there with the stories or whatnot, but kind of the same philosophy, the stories, companies like YouTube, they had to get in with their shorts, otherwise they knew they were they couldn't compete. And that's why they added YouTube shorts. Yeah, just attention our attention spans are short. As human there's a there's a lot of legacy data on that where you can see our attention spans are minute. So also um, with these come recommendation based on interest based algorithms. What's happening is you have a company like tick tock tick tock has an article that actually tells you how tick tock recommends your videos for you.

And I'm going to read a few excerpts of it. I'm going to have this in the show notes at Digital Marketing creators.com forward slash episode 34 I'll put this article that Tiktok put out it says tiktoks mission is to inspire creativity by bringing joy. We're building a global community where you can create and share authentically discover the world and connect with others. The four you feed this talking about the cutting edge right right here but this is talking about the four you feed is kind of like Instagrams explorer page. The four you feed is part of what enables that connection and discovery. It's central to the Tik Tok experience and where most of our users spend their time. When you open Tik Tok and land in your for you feet. You're presented with the stream of videos curated to your interests. Remember I was talking about it was Bayes algorithm so curated to your interests, making it easy to find content and create as you love. This feed is powered by a recommendation system. Remember, I talked about the interest base and recommended and I didn't even read. This part of this article was referred to me by another article I was using, but that's what I'm seeing interest base and recommendation based algorithm.

But let me let me start that over says this feed is powered by a recommendation system that delivers content to each user that is likely to be of interest to that particular user. Part of the magic of Tik tok is that there's no one for you feed. While different people may come upon some of the same standout videos. Each person's feed is unique and tailored to that specific individual. I read this last part, the for you feed is one of the defined features tick tock platform, but we know there are questions about how recommendations are delivered to your feet. And they're talking about discuss how we work to counter some of the issues that our recommendation services can grapple with, so on and so forth, just tells you how tick tock recommends videos for you. I really don't think these other platforms are too much different. You know, though the algorithms are different, but they're not. They're not that for different. The basics about recommendation systems and say is recommendation systems are all around us. They power many of the systems the services we use and love every day from shop into stream into search engines, recommendation systems are designed to help people have a more personalized experience.

And it's almost like, it's almost like TikTok can actually read your mind. It's crazy, but it does. It freaks some people out. I don't know why I can understand why. If they don't have a level of understanding that some people like myself have about these systems, then I can definitely understand why. I don't know why it's so...

Quick break in the episode, I want to talk about a resource page that I put together with a lot of helpful things on or something much different than the show notes. So that's things such as our ebooks and audio books, a whole bunch of other resources with affiliate links and things like that. So make sure you check that out at DigitalMarketingCreators.com/resources, DigitalMarketingCreators.com/resources, check it out. Back to the show.

It says these signals help the recommendation system gauge the content you like as well as the content you prefer to skip says what factors contribute to for you. It says recommendations are based on a number of factors including things like user interactions, video information, device and account settings, because a lot of different factors for you. But it's a long, interesting article, also that that will definitely give you more more understanding of interest base and recommendation base combined algorithm or platform can do and why it gives you a better understanding of why short form content as a whole is winning right now.

Also, yeah, just the ability, the ability to make a life changing video to go viral, I think is huge. That for a business owner or for anyone that's that's building a personal brand. I think that's huge. We don't get these moments in in time a lot is for a is able to build a community. I think, essentially learning these platforms is very important for just that. Also, I put some down, it's easier I wrote down, it's easier to build a brand, if you are creating quality content is kind of what I was kind of piggyback into, but all in all, you know, what's what's viral to you. I mentioned life changing, you know, you can make a life change video to go viral. What's viral to you, I think viral is in terms of, it gives you if you make a piece of content and gives you huge reach, you know, in a particular niche, that's how I define it. It doesn't matter what niche you in, you know, you can you can just be the leader of that, you know, your videos are getting the most views out of that niche.

You can make a video, let's say if you are a dog walker, and you walked your keys, you know, for a living, you know, it's a very small niche, you can make a video that can do 100,000 That can have 100,000 views, you can make a video that can make a million views, 10 million views and things like that. If you have systems in place, it can change your life or if you have something as simple as a link in your bio, you know, maybe it's a link to a particular product you have or particular service you have it can change your life. It really can And that's what Tiktok is doing. That's what YouTube shorts are doing. That's what all of these platforms are doing Instagram reels, these this 62nd 62nd videos, less than 62nd videos, you don't always have to be at 60 seconds, I think the shorter, the better.

But you have to make sure that and I spoke about this in a previous episode about the watch time, you have to make sure that the watch time is high. In either these on either these platforms, it's up to 60 seconds, you know, and you can make videos longer than that on these platforms, I wouldn't do you maybe the kind of content that you make, you need more than 60 seconds or what have you. So do what's best for you. So it's the it's the lower of the reach. So having so many people seeing your content, so many people engaging with you, you know, the possibility of so many people watching your content and engaging, engaging with you and you build a viable community that can help you and you can help them for years to come. I think a lot of people need to pay close attention, I think you need to act. I don't think you just need to pay attention. I think you need to act on this opportunity. Right now. I'm not preaching anybody or anything like that. But I'm just saying it's, it's right now I see it a lot of different maybe I like looking at profiles on these different platforms of people that's not doing the same thing as me. But I like to, you know, go in people, the comments section, go look at people's profiles and, and you know, see what kind of content they're making, see what they're doing off the platform. Also, I like to do all of that. That's kind of how that's how I learn. That's how I learn these platforms. But yeah, short form content is winning right now. There is no question about it. And I think everybody should jump on board.

I don't think it can hurt you whatsoever, especially if you have a personal brand. I think it is a huge opportunity. Tick tock YouTube shorts, Instagram reels, Facebook reels, Pinterest, Snapchat, I'm not saying you have to be on all those platforms, you can just be on one you can be on to do what works best for you. Let's chop it up in the in our group, private Facebook group, digitalmarketingcreators.com/group that's digitalmarketingcreators.com/group.

And in the i will link this article because this article has some more some more stuff in it. And I think it'd be helpful for a lot of people to kind of understand that, you know, tick tock, and therefore you page and just just algorithm itself, this article talks about a lot, and I think it's a it's a real, real great resource for you.
